You’ve missed the library, and we’ve missed you, too! It’s our pleasure to announce that Browsing by Appointment is now available at the Old Bridge Public Library. During these appointments, you can see what the Central Library has on its shelves and check out materials. This service will be available from 11:30am to 7:00pm on Tuesdays through Fridays, and 10:00am to 5:00pm on Saturdays



Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How do I sign up for an appointment?

Fill out an appointment request form. A member of the library staff will respond to your request via email within one business day to confirm your time or to suggest another one. Please note that a staff member needs to confirm your appointment before it’s finalized.


2. How long do appointments last?

Appointments last for 30 minutes, and they begin on the half-hour. For example, appointments are held at 12:00pm, 12:30pm, 1:00pm, etc.


3. How many people can have appointments at one time?

Due to government-set capacity limits, we can currently allow 8 people in to browse our collection at one time.


4. How do I get into the library?

Walk up to the front door and ring the door bell. A staff member will greet you, confirm your appointment, and let you in.


5. What if I’m late to my appointment?

Your appointment begins when you arrive, but it still ends at the prescribed time. For example, if you arrive at 1:15pm for a 1:00pm appointment, you will only have until 1:30pm to finish browsing and checking out your materials.


6. Can I bring my family members with me to browse the collection?

Again, due to our capacity limits, family members can only accompany you if they have confirmed browsing appointments at the same time.


7. Can I pay off fines during my visit?

Yes! However, we ask that you use our SmartPay computer to pay fines so staff can avoid contact with money.


8. What safety precautions should I take when I visit the library?

We ask that all customers use hand sanitizer as they enter and as they leave the building. Hand sanitizer is provided to all of our patrons upon entry and exit. Also, please wear a mask or properly-placed facial covering at all times, and maintain six feet of distance from others whenever possible. 


9. Do I need to be an Old Bridge cardholder to use this service?

Yes, at this time, in-person browsing is limited to Old Bridge cardholders and eligible patrons applying for library cards.
