The
Old Bridge Public Library invites new readers every month to join
us for our Book Discussion Groups. All Programs are free and open
to the entire community.
Monday,
February 8 @ 7:00 p.m. The
Girls Night Out Book Discussion Group will
review The Faith Club: a Muslim, a Christian,
a Jew—Three Women Search for Understanding.
Traces how three American women of different faiths
worked together to understand one another while identifying
the connections between Judaism, Christianity, and
Islam, during which they openly discussed the issues
that divided them.
Thursday February 18th at 7:00 p.m., The
Original Book Discussion Group will be discussing
the March of Folly by Barbara Tuchman. Examines
the irrationalities of governments through analysis
of four crises of history--the fall of Troy, the
Renaissance popes' own provocation of the Protestant
secession, Britain's loss of the American colonies,
and America's involvement in Vietnam.
Thursday, February 25th at 7:00 p.m., The
Science Fiction Book Discussion Group will
be discussing Stories Of Your Life And Other
Stories by Ted Chiang. Presents a first collection
of seven science fiction short stories, and includes
an original tale, "Liking What You See: A Documentary" for
this anthology.
All book discussion groups
meet in the Central Branch located in the Old Bridge
Municipal Center.

Language Learning
"Old Bridge Library Adds Online
Language Learning with Mango
Languages"
The Old Bridge Public Library has recently added Mango
Languages, a major language learning service, to its online
electronic resources for Library patrons. Ten popular languages
are included via online instruction. The new language service
from Mango Languages includes language instruction in the
following languages: Brazilian Portuguese; Chinese (Mandarin);
Japanese; French; German; Greek; Italian; Portuguese; Spanish;
and, Russian. Instruction is also available in ESL (English
as a
Second Language) Brazilian Portuguese, ESL Polish, and ESL
Spanish.
"Library users now can learn the basics of ten languages online
for free, just by using their Old Bridge Public Library card"
said Director Michael Lamb. "Whether it is for personal
enrichment, preparation to travel to another country or
improving job market skills, this online language service
is one
of many innovative electronic tools the Old Bridge Public
Library is making available to patrons to help them fulfill
their goals."

Mostly focusing on knitting and crochet, the craft club is an informal
friendly group that welcomes all interests, ages and abilities.
