Old Bridge, NJ – Oct. 3, 2016— The Old Bridge Public Library will host a variety of Halloween events this month, highlighted by a performance of “Tales of Edgar Allan Poe” by the Hudson Shakespeare Company on Sat. Oct. 29th at 2pm.

The traveling troupe will present this live performance which tells the story of high school students who accidentally get locked in one of Poe’s former houses. To pass the time, they read Poe stories. Unbeknownst to them, the ghosts of Poe, his wife and his publisher are trapped in the house as well. As the teens read the tales – The Raven, The Black Cat, and The Tell Tale Heart— the ghosts eerily act them out. The Hudson Shakespeare Company is a regional theatrical touring company based in Jersey City, NJ, that produces an annual summer Shakespeare in the Park festival and offers a variety of theatrical productions and educational programs in libraries, parks, schools and other venues throughout the state. This performance is free and appropriate for teenagers and adults.

Among the other Halloween-themed events the Library is offering include:

Ghostbusters Scavenger Hunt:  Oct. 24-28th 10am – 9pm. Kids in grades 1-12 are invited to compete to see if they can complete this scavenger hunt throughout the library for the chance to win prizes.

Day of the Dead- Reverse Glass Painting: Mon. Oct. 17 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Dia de los Muertos is a holiday for remembering and honoring those who have passed. Kids in grades 6-12 are invited to create a reverse glass painting to honor a loved one, pet or favorite celebrity in recognition of this festive, joyous celebration.

Halloween Party and Parade: Fri. Oct. 28th @ 11am. The Library’s littlest patrons are invited to come to the Library in their Halloween costumes for a special story time and craft.  After the craft, they will trick- or-treat around the library for some goodies.
