Important Passport Information

The Old Bridge Public Library is pleased to offer Passport
processing service. The new travel laws which took effect earlier this
winter have affected many people and the Library’s Passport staff
as well. Please take a few minutes to review this information before
your visit to our Passport office.
-
Passport applications are processed on a first-come,
first-serve basis.
-
We have a sign-in sheet for service. As soon as
you arrive, note your name on the sign-in sheet. Our Passport
clerks will use this sign-in sheet to call you to the desk.
-
The processing of a Passport application is time-consuming.
Plan your visit at the beginning of our posted hours. This
is especially important if you are applying for a Passport
for multiple family
members.
-
The number of Passports that can be processed during
the posted hours of operation is limited. The approximate
number that can be processed is 30. This is not exact because
the factors
of a particular application determine the amount of time
it takes.
-
When the maximum number of applications that can
be processed in the time allotted for the day’s session
has been reached, we will need to suspend service for the
day.
Our Passport clerks are highly trained to provide this service for you.
Other Library staff are not trained to help you.
-
The hours of Passport service may change depending
on a variety of factors.
-
The Library has two trained Passport clerks. As
with all of us, occasionally emergencies occur; and we will
need to cancel Passport service. We make every attempt to
keep the message
on our voice mail and the Library’s web site current - although
sometimes, it is just not possible. Please call the Passport telephone:
732-721-5600 extension 5031 before you come to the Library for
service. The Adult & Information Services Dept at extension
5033 can also be called for current information.
-
It is now taking a long time between the time you
submit the Passport application to us and when you receive
the Passport from the US Passport Service. Please understand
that this
is due to the heavy volume of Passport applications being
received by the US government. Plan months in advance in
order to receive
your Passport in time. We will do everything we can to help
you track the process of your application; but we have no
control over
its actual processing.
