Old Bridge, NJ – May 25, 2017 –  The respected Hudson Shakespeare Company returns to the Old Bridge Public Library for a performance of William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew,” on Sat. June 10th at 2:30pm.

Shakespeare’s classic battle of the sexes takes place in the pleasant gardens of Italy where all the great young scholars have arrived to study, seek their fortune, and fall in love. Being part of a matriarchy society full of fiery and ambitious women, Petruchio has come to find his love, and he finds it in the misunderstood Katherina. While she wants nothing to do with him, he hatches a plan to make the feisty Kate his wife.  This production is inspired by the Fellini films and the Italian roots of this timeless play.

The Hudson Shakespeare Company is a regional theatrical touring company based in Jersey City, NJ, that produces an annual summer Shakespeare in the Park festival and offers a variety of theatrical productions and educational programs in libraries, parks, schools and other venues throughout the state. This performance is free and appropriate for teenagers and adults. Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Old Bridge Food Pantry to the performance.

“We are pleased to welcome the Hudson Shakespeare Company back to the Library,” noted Library Director Nancy Cohen. “Their previous productions of ‘Almost, Maine’ and ‘Tales of Edgar Allan Poe’ were excellent and well-received, and we are happy to be able to offer our patrons quality arts programming in their neighborhood.”
