Old Bridge, NJ – October 31, 2017 – The Joel Zelnik Trio, featuring vocalist Holli Ross, will perform the 1970s legendary recordings of Tony Bennett and Bill Evans at the Old Bridge Public Library on Sat. Nov. 11th at 2:30pm.
As part of the Library’s popular Second Saturday Concert Series, the event will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the collaborative works of renowned jazz pianist Bill Evans and legendary singer Tony Bennett, considered some of the best recordings in the history of jazz. Evans, winner of seven Grammy Awards, was born in Plainfield, NJ, and along with fellow New Jerseyans William “Count” Basie and Sarah Vaughan, defined 20th Century jazz.
Zelnik has served as a bandleader and jazz pianist for 40 years, has entertained five US Presidents, and performed at concert venues in New York, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Japan and Greece. Ross has performed in top jazz clubs around the country from New Orleans’ Snug Harbor to NY’s Blue Note. She is a member and co-founder of the celebrated female vocal trio String of Pearls, and has performed internationally and at top jazz festivals. She has recorded multiple CDs, and her newest one with the esteemed vocal group The Royal Bopsters earned 4 ½ stars by Downbeat Magazine. She also currently serves as musical director of the jazz vocal ensemble at Montclair State University, and on the jazz faculty at Hofstra University.
