Old Bridge, NJ –May 24, 2018 – The Old Bridge Public Library will offer valuable health and wellness-related programs in June. All are free and open to the public and registration is not required, except as noted.
Wellness and Nutrition as a Means to Healthy Longevity: Friday, June 8th at 2pm. Chiropractor Dr. Petrusia Kotlar, a proponent of holistic wellness, will present this program on nutritional trends, ethno-nutrition, seasonal eating and alternatives to chemical medicine. Dr. Kotlar is a well-known alternative health care provider with over 30 years of experience.
NAMI: In Our Own Voice: Sunday, June 10th at 2pm: With the goal of reducing stigma and promoting awareness, this unique public education program features trained speakers sharing their compelling personal stories of living with mental health challenges and achieving recovery. It will be presented by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
Diabetes Management: Tuesdays at 10am, beginning June 12th: This six-week Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP) was developed at Stanford University School of Medicine. The curriculum includes self-managed behavior modification and coping strategies to enable participants to manage their chronic conditions and medications while increasing physical activity levels. How to Exercise Properly Without Injury: Tuesday, June 12th at 7pm: JAG Physical Therapy will present this workshop on the correct ways to move during exercise, thereby minimizing or eliminating any possibility of injury. Licensed physical therapist Renata Tagenhorst, PT, DPT will lead the session.
Mental Tool Box for Weight Loss: Tuesday, June 19th at 7pm: Dr. Claudia Huegel and Dr. Carol Penn of Medimorphosis in Shrewsbury will speak about cognitive behavioral techniques which can contribute to weight loss success. The seminar will examine how people can start thinking differently in order to make permanent changes in their mind, body, and life.
The Old Bridge Public Library has consistently been voted one of the three Best Public Libraries in Middlesex County by the readers of the Home News Tribune.
