Old Bridge, NJ – Sept. 27, 2018 – The Old Bridge Public Library will host the following health and wellness-related programming in October. Registration is not required for these sessions.

Medicare A, B, C and D: Tuesday, October 9th at 10:30am.  This informative session will explain and compare Medicare Parts A, B, C and D, including: coverage, costs (including Out-of-Pocket OOP) expenses, enrollment requirements and restrictions, and Medicare changes for 2019. It will also examine how the “donut hole” affects recipients. The program will be led by Les Taylor, an insurance agent and educator. 

Free Health Screenings: Sunday, October 14th from 1-4pm. Nurses and technicians from RWJBarnabas Health will be on hand to conduct free health screenings for glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure.  There will also be information available about free RWJ Community Health Education programs and services.

World of Garlic: Wednesday, October 17th at 7pm. Former pharmaceutical engineer Roman Osadca who is currently both a beekeeper and a farmer will speak about the ancient discovery of garlic and its many mutations into hardneck and softneck garlics. This program will explore garlic’s many uses and benefits.

Support Group for Women with Diabetes: Thursday, October 18th at 10am. This support group exclusively for women, sponsored by Diabetes Sisters, offers an inclusive environment for peer support.  At each meetup, participants are encouraged to focus on their own health and share their life experiences living with diabetes with women who understand the unique challenges diabetes poses.  The group meets on the third Thursday of every month.  Women with all types of diabetes (prediabetes, gestational, type 1, type 1.5, LADA, type 2, etc.) are welcome.
